Shirley A. (Mittge) Woodruff, a Harbor resident for over 40 years, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, December 31, 2012, at home in Elma. She was 76 years old. Shirley was born August 21, 1936, in Birchtree, Missouri to Paul and Gladys Mittge. She grew up in Missouri and Raymond, Wash. She is a graduate of Valley High School and Grays Harbor Community College. Shirley worked at Grays Harbor Community Hospital and Harbors Home Health as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She attended Elma Alliance Church.
Shirley enjoyed sleepovers and vacations with her grandchildren. Shirley also enjoyed swimming, camping, snow sledding, reading, helping others, outings to the casino and shopping with her daughter.
She is survived by two sons, Jim and his wife, Debbie and Dan. Shirley was born into a family of 9 children. She is survived by brothers, Eldon and Joe; and sisters, Marie, Pauline and Jenny Dee. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren including, Mitchael, Tasha, Abigail, Esther and David.
A celebration of Shirley’s life will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2013, at Elma Alliance Church. The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Elma Alliance Church Food Bank.
