Stephan Andrew Homchick died peacefully in his home on August 7, 2012, with his family by his side, after a brief battle with cancer.
Steve was born on September 14, 1951, in Aberdeen, Washington, to Chester and Mary Homchick. He was the fifth child of eight children and was raised in Aberdeen. He graduated from J.M. Weatherwax High School in 1972. He then worked for Evans Plywood.
Steve relocated to Skagit Valley where he met and married Gladys Dutton on August 21, 1993. He worked at Baywood Plywood before moving to Port Angeles with his family in 2002, to work for K-Ply. Steve then finished his working career at Westport Shipyard. In his younger days Steve loved to take long trips on his Kawasaki motorcycle visiting different parts of the country. He also enjoyed following his favorite teams the Mariners and Seahawks. Steve had many friends on the Harbor and would make it a priority to visit them yearly. His Harbor roots were always with him.
Steve was a loving husband to Gladys Homchick; a loving father to Brenda Silva and Julian Silva; a brothel and co-worker. He will be greatly missed by all and especially by his three loving grandchildren, Natalie, Emma, and Andrew.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Mary Homchick; and his parents-in law, Gerald and Selma Dutton. He is survived by his wife, Gladys; children, Brenda and Julian; brothers, John (Joan); Chester; Walter (Jackie); Dan (Kim); Brian (Priscilla); and sisters Diane; Susan (Mike).
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 8, 2012, at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, 132 East 13th Street, Port Angeles, Wash.
