Stephen Alan Person was born on February 27, 1985, in Hillsboro, Oregon, the son of Kenneth Alan Person and Patricia Ann (Schaffner) Forbes. He moved with his family to the Seaside community at the age of five and was raised and received his education there, having been a graduate with Seaside High School Class of 2003. Upon his graduation he attended the University of Oregon, where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism. While attending, he was a publisher, writer and photographer for the school newspaper the Oregon Voice.
He worked for Northwest Monthly Magazine, as a freelance reporter, writer and video recorder. Stephen also worked part-time for Noble Café in Portland.
Stephen was a member of the Boy Scouts, having received his Eagle Award and Order of the Arrow. He was also a member of his high school band, playing the trumpet, guitar and piano. Among his special interests he enjoyed baseball, basketball, fishing and cave exploring.
Survivors include his mother and step-father, Patty and Bill Forbes of Goldendale, Wash.; his father, Kenneth Person of Ocean Shores, Wash.; his sister, Angela Hudson of The Dalles, Ore.; and his grandparents, Kenneth and Charlotte Forbes of Woodburn, Ore. Also surviving are his three nieces, Ariel M. Kinzinger, Abbigale S. Kinzinger-Hudson and Ayva L. Hudson; and several aunts and uncles on both sides of his family.
