Stephen A. Keller, 69, a longtime South Bend resident, born May 4, 1943, to Boyd and Catherine (Pohosky) Keller passed away peacefully at his home “Sugar Valley” on September 27, 2012.
He is survived by his wife, Kathryn at the family home; his three daughters, Pebbles (Jeff) Williams, Angela Gilbert and her friend, Rod King, Heidi (Jonathan) Keller-Utting; four step-children, Tracey (Lawrence) Tracy, Ronald Patrick, Jim (Dori) Patrick and Louise (Josh) Johnson; his brother, James (Eileen) Keller of Houston, Texas; and a nephew, Zane (Ashton) Keller of San Diego, California.
Steve’s joy in life came from his 16 grandchildren, Whitley and Alex Gilbert, Ryan and Allison Williams, Britland, Katrena, Phillip, and Nicholas Tracy, Colby and Kylie Patrick, Ashton Flemetis, Madi and Evan Patrick, Dennis, Joshlynne, and Brooklynne Johnson.
Steve graduated from South Bend High School in 1962 and went on to work for Weyerhaeuser for 40 years before retiring. Over the years, Steve enjoyed spending time at Sugar Valley where friends were always welcome. His know-how to work on anything made him the “go to man” when you needed something fixed. His kind heart and love of animals was very apparent if you ever went to visit him and realized you had to bargain with a dog for a chair. He will be especially missed by one special dog named “Corker” who was by his side through it all the past 2 years.
Steve’s family would like to invite family and friends to The Barge Restaurant, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 6, 2012, for a Celebration of his Life.
Memorials may be made to Willapa Harbor Helping Hands, P.O. Box 105, Lebam, WA 98554.
