Ted A. Haines was born on October 5, 1948, in Oregon City, Oregon, to Wilbur and Ruth Haines. He passed away on January 26, 2013, in Montesano, Washington.
Ted grew up in Vancouver, Wash. He attended Columbia River High School, Washington State University, and Graduate School in Iowa. From 1991 to 2013 he resided in Lincoln City, Ore., Auburn, Wash., Seaside, Ore. and Montesano, Wash.
Ted loved literature and writing, often composing poems for those close to him. His favorite place was the beach. He loved Archaeology and Native American culture, and would spend hours hiking and scouring various locations in the Pacific Northwest in search of treasured relics.
Ted was a joy to everyone he came in contact with. He loved to laugh and tell stories. Ted had a way of making a quick impression on a person’s heart through his caring and upbeat personality.
He is survived by his daughter, Kari (Chris) Walker, and three grandchildren, Ahnna, Andrew, and Aaron of Powell, Wyo.; one sister, Mary (Bob) Pfeiffer of Sumner, Wash.; four nephews, as well as great-nieces and nephews; one brother, Gil (Carol) Haines of Greeley, Wash.; and his mother, Ruth (Ed) Haines-Jahn of Montesano.
He was preceded in death by his father, Wilbur Haines.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Elma Grange #26, 401 W. Waldrip St, Elma, Wash. at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 30, 2013. In lieu of flowers please make a contribution to the American Cancer Society.
