Hood Canal, Washington
Our mother passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the Franciscan Hospice in Tacoma, Washington. She was the best mother a child could have asked for. She never lost her wonderful sense of humor, incredible love of life, passion for learning and travel, intrigue with beautiful sunsets and cloud formations and appreciation of the many fine friends in her life.
Born in Hoquiam, Washington to Jonas and Elma Sundquist, she moved to Seattle after high school to attend the University of Washington and affiliated with the Chi Omega Sorority.
Mom believed in embracing the world around us and being involved. Her interests were varied and following her guidance to us became involved in many activities, among them the National Chapter Visitor for the Chi Omega Sorority, King County Girl Scouts, and the Seattle Fashion Board. The highlight of her business career was as the longtime Special Events and Public Relations Director for Frederick & Nelson.
Family survivors include her son, Jeffrey of Hood Canal; daughters, Trina Matel (Larry) of Port Orchard, Carrilu (Jerry Davis) of Manchester; 7 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Katie Jo Dunlap.
Mom requested that no service be held. The family graciously thanks her caregivers and the Franciscan Hospice and Palliative Care, P.O. Box 2197, Tacoma, WA 98401. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Franciscan Hospice in mom’s name to support their fine work.
