Walter William Kulich

Walter William Kulich of Cosmopolis passed away while playing golf at his favorite course on Monday, November 5, 2012. He was 79. Walter was known by many as “Wonderful Walt”.

Walter was born February 2, 1933, in Aberdeen, Washington to Alexander and Clara (Masko) Kulich.

He graduated from J.M. Weatherwax High School in 1951. Walt won a baseball inspirational award scholarship in high school for Grays Harbor College. In the early 1950’s he served as a Corporal in the U.S. Army where he was a postal clerk.

On October 16, 1954, Walt married Donna Lee Pashall at the First Christian Church in Aberdeen. She survives him at the family home in Cosmopolis.

Walt had worked at Rayonier and then on August 27, 1956, he was hired as a clerk at the Aberdeen Post Office. He made supervisor in 1981 and then made Assistant Postmaster on March 12, 1988. Walt retired on November 30, 1990 after 34 years at the Post Office.

Walt was active in the Polish Club and the Aberdeen Eagles. He enjoyed baseball, slowpitch, bowling, golf, gardening, woodworking, going for walks in Cosmopolis, listening to books on tape and he had a love for old westerns and other movies and corny sitcoms. Walt was a jack-of-all-trades; he could do everything super well! He loved spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his loving wife, Donna; Walt is survived by two daughters, Linda Kulich of Bothell, Wash. and Tracie Kulich of Aberdeen, Wash.; a brother, Ed Kulich of Aberdeen; and one granddaughter, Alexandra Howe of Flagstaff, Ariz.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 10th at the South Aberdeen Baptist Church located at 620 Fordney St.
