Wesley E. Berglund, a longtime resident of Aberdeen, passed away on February 13, 2013. He was 85. Wes was born on December 11, 1927, in Port Angeles, Wash. Wes graduated high school in Port Angeles and went on to graduate from the University of Washington with a degree in Civil Engineering. Wes served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in the Philippines. Upon graduation Wes moved to San Francisco where he met Marie, his wife of 62 years. He and Marie moved to Aberdeen in 1956 and bought a surveying business that later became named Berglund, Schmidt & Associates Engineering and Surveying.
In addition to his love for his family, Wes served on the Board of Trustees at the Evergreen State College in the late 70’s, was active on many community boards and associations and was a long time member of the Grays Harbor Country Club.
Wes is survived by his wife, Marie; sister, Bernice Kitz of Port Angeles; sons, Tom (Sabine), Steve (Sandy) and Dave (Denise); grandchildren, Max, Molly, Maverick, Julia and Olivia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Wes’ life and a Christian Science reading will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2013, at the Aberdeen Episcopal Church.
