Yolanda Y. Smith, 55 years of age and a longtime Harborite, died on Friday, July 19, 2013, at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen, Washington. She was born on February 26, 1958, in Tacoma, Washington to Nick and Carol (Pittman) Jarreau.
She spent her early years in Tacoma and came to the Harbor area during her middle school years and she attended Weatherwax High School in Aberdeen. As a young girl she attended the Wishkah Valley Community Church.
In 1975, she was married to James Conway in Aberdeen. They were divorced in 1991.
Yolanda had worked at the Red Lion in Aberdeen for numerous years. She was also employed by that same company in Coos Bay and Yakima. She returned to the Harbor in 2003 and on May 22, 2009, she was married to Robert M. Smith in Aberdeen.
She enjoyed visiting the casinos in Reno and the greater Harbor area. She was an avid reader of all types of novels and was fond of the time she was able to spend with her grandkids.
Yolanda is survived by her husband, Robert Smith of the family home in Ocean Shores; her sons, Timothy James Conway, Jeffrey Clayton Conway and Kevin Donald Conway all of Aberdeen; her daughter, Misti Lavetta Conway of Hoquiam; her brother, Jeffrey “Sam” Jarreau of Aberdeen; her sisters, Nancy Kendzora and Geraldine Christenson both of Tennessee and Rebecca Voynow of Hoquiam; eight grandchildren and other relatives.
A celebration of her life will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, August 3, 2013, at the home of her daughter, Misti.
The family suggests that memorial contributions in her name be made to Aberdeen Q-Mart, Hogan’s Corner Q-Mart or Caldwell Banker/Ocean Shores Brokers.
Cremation arrangements are by the Coleman Mortuary, 422 – 5th Street in Hoquiam, Washington.
