The act of a coward

On Saturday, I had the opportunity to walk in the Hoquiam Loggers Playday Parade as candidate for state auditor. But for the first time in more than 40 parades in the campaign season, we had a negative experience.

One of our volunteers, a 14-year-old girl, was verbally assaulted and spit on by an older man — a coward — shouting profanities. Maybe he was drunk, maybe he’s just an idiot, but he needs to be identified and charged. An assault report has been filed and a reward is offered. Please call the police if you witnessed the event.

Our volunteer was horrified, crying, and her parade experience ruined. She didn’t expect that kind of reaction in her hometown.

This is not the Hoquiam I know, and not a Washington value. Please turn the coward in.
