Conspiracy theories

I saw a little item on one of those main-stream media channels, I think it may have been MSNBC, last week that piqued my curiosity a bit. It concerns Sandy Hook Elementary.

It seems there are a few far-right-wing bloggers out there in cyber space that are trying to advance a conspiracy that — I know this is hard to believe — the massacre that took the lives of 20 6- and 7-year-old children and six of their educators/ caretakers was some kind of a hoax cooked up by the government of the United States of American so they’ll have an excuse to come and “take your guns.”

I even heard they wanted to see the death certificates and their burial sites. How insensitive can they get? I haven’t a clue.

So here’s a conspiracy theory for you: How do we know that some of these blogs aren’t coming from the left?

Maybe they want to make it look as if the gun lobbyists have gone from being a few fries shy of a Happy Meal to full tilt bozos.

I wouldn’t put it past them. After all, they were clever enough to get President Obama re-elected despite all the assurances that Mitt Romney would win quite handily by the “paragons of truth” that is the right-wing media machine.
