Honor veterans

When this country was first proclaimed free, the purpose was and still is the same — to honor those who have fought and died in defense of this republic and its freedom.

On Sunday, we salute the American men and women who are today’s veterans and have earned the gratitude of every true American.

Veterans Day is a time for all Americans to pledge full support to the men and women who have served this country honorably and to hold sacred the history and memory of those who have given their lives in the continuing struggle for peace. On Sunday, all over this land speeches, special services and ceremonies, such as those held at Arlington National Cemetery, will demonstrate America’s will to keep her freedom and to salute those who have fought to keep it.

I urge that all of us take a moment from our holiday to join in heartfelt thanks for those who served our nation so well on this Veterans Day.
