Playday issues will be worked out

Citizens of Hoquiam and neighboring communities:

As you may have read in our local paper, the Loggers Playday Committee and the Elks Grand Parade Committee have been at odds these past few months.

Both committees consist of tirelessly dedicated individuals, who are passionate for the cause.

Because of a concern for the future of the two events, as well as a desire to keep the Playday and Parade together, a panel has been formed, comprised of Playday committee members and “Elks” members (myself included).

The panel held their first meeting in August, discussing the issues that have generated most of the turmoil. We came to a consensus and agreed that these issues “will” be ironed out (contrary to “what” has been printed in the paper).

It is my opinion that the Parade and Playday panel share the same desire and willingness to settle our differences for the greater good of the community!

Loggers Playday and the Elk’s Grand Parade celebrate the timber industry which our cities and towns have grown from, something we all are proud of!

In closing, I would like to thank all of you who have worked so hard throughout the year to make these events happen.
