Take a deeper look at the use of ethanol

They’re coming for your wallets again. The House Science Committee is having a hearing on whether to increase ethanol use by U.S. vehicles. Progressives are destroying your cars, motorcycles, ATVs, boat motors, and equipment by trying to increase ethanol use. Why would they do that? Because they’re blinded by their hatred of fossil fuels so much, they’ll accept any solution, even if it’s worse. Ethanol above 2 percent is much worse.

It’s imperative you contact Congressman Derek Kilmer to force the House Science Committee to abandon any further increase in E15 — 15 percent ethanol — in our fuel. Despite marketing by big agriculture, which profits by turning food-into-fuel, and the auto unions which get to make replacement cars for those destroyed by ethanol, anyone involved with vehicle and equipment maintenance knows ethanol is destroying vehicles and equipment. Do you really want to spend all your money replacing cars and equipment? Will you have anything left for food?

In a Detroit News, AAA references most of the auto manufacturers’ warning about E15 in fuel. “AAA said General Motors Co. and Ford Motor Co. have approved the use of the fuel for new-model vehicles only. Chrysler Group LLC said it doesn’t approve the use of E15 for any of its vehicles. Five manufacturers — BMW, Chrysler, Nissan, Toyota and Volkswagen — are on record saying their warranties will not cover fuel-related claims caused by the use of E15. Seven others — Ford, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz and Volvo — said E15 does not comply with the fuel requirements specified in their owner manuals and may void warranty coverage.”

The American public is being experimented upon. Politicians are wondering how much pain you will accept? There are some who oppose the E15 effort. According to the article, “Earlier this month, Sen. Roger Wicker, R-Miss., and Sen. David Vitter, R-La., introduced legislation to overturn the EPA’s approval of E15. ‘Whether you drive a car, truck, boat, or tractor, misfueling with E15 could result in engine failure, increased emissions and the voiding of warranty coverage,’ said Vitter. ‘It is irresponsible for EPA to allow E15 without sufficient testing and technical analysis. I support an all-inclusive energy strategy, but experimenting before understanding the consequences and potential cost of using E15 is unfair to consumers.’”

I’ve written about the damaging effects of ethanol before. When I ran for the state Legislature, I found the incumbents didn’t understand how damaging ethanol was. Now they just don’t care. They, and the press, believed the hype given them by lobbyists. Yet, despite the facts given them, they blindly plodded on because as far as they were concerned, it now was somebody else’s problem. E10 has personally cost me hundreds of dollars in repairs and equipment replacement. Since then, for the last couple years, I buy ethanol-free gas at MASCO for my equipment. You should too. And more ethanol-free stations should be encouraged. Note, this is a nonpartisan issue, and I don’t have a financial interest in this issue other than preservation of my equipment.

Oh, there is another winner with ethanol — the state. The state gets much more tax revenue from you because ethanol reduces gas mileage, therefore you have to buy more gallons of gas to go the same distance. And, when you have to buy that new car, the state gets more sales tax and vehicle registration fees.

One need only look at the www.historicvehicle.org/Resources/Resources/Ethanol website to see their excellent depiction of vehicle damage caused by ethanol. There will be some who point to Brazil’s use of ethanol, but that’s a red herring. They design cars to run on high levels of ethanol.

Don’t be a victim. Get involved and tell your state and federal representatives to protect your assets from deliberate destruction.
