Just a couple of short responses to Darcy Skaalrud’s Dec. 7 letter to the editor, if I may.
As far as runaway government spending goes, one only has to ask, which political party held the White House for eight years during the 1990s and left us with a budget surplus, and which party held the White House for the next eight years and blew that surplus and left us with a huge budget deficit?
It’s like Bill Clinton said, no president can be expected to clean up that mess in just four years.
I think that since Katie Couric was already well aware of then Senator Obama’s resume, president of the Harvard Law Review and a professor of Constitutional Law, asking him what he reads would have pretty much been a moot question. We didn’t know much about Sarah Palin back then. We do now.
Of course viewers of the Fox News channel probably know more about her than the rest of us want to know.
I do believe I found Darcy’s punch-line though. Apparently he has me confused with someone who isn’t looking forward to having a chance to cast a vote for Hillary Clinton in just about four short years from now.
