You can’t pick and choose

This is a very hard letter to write as I do not wish to be labeled a “gay basher.” It is not the person that I am so against, it is the behavior of the gays and lesbians and those who encourage that behavior.

I have watched with sorrow while pastors, ministers and moms and dads, etc., are purporting to be in total agreement with the movement to make same sex marriage the law, despite of the fact that marriage has always been defined by our society as a union between a man and a woman. What makes me sad, however, is that these people promoting same sex marriage appear to have never read the Bible and/or don’t believe what the Bible teaches, or, even worse, pick and choose the passages in scripture that they wish to emulate, and ignore the passages that actually speak strongly against forbidden practices. (Leviticus 18:22, 20:13; I Corinthians 6:9; and Revelation 21:8, to name but a few that condemn homosexuality and promise the punishment of those unrepentant of that activity.)

I never knew, that as practicing Christians, we were allowed to pay no attention to some of the instructions given to us in the Word of the Lord. I listened, appalled, as our illustrious governor said that as a practicing Catholic she struggled hard with this issue, and came down on the side of same sex marriage.

I firmly believe that homosexuals need our tough love, not our blind love that condones their destructive behavior. They need the kind of love that extends a helping hand and says “I think you are worth saving, lets work on it together.”
