Coastal Harvest serves more than 50 hunger relief agencies across Southwest Washington. Each month we ask for reports of the number of people served and their activities. One question asks for memorable stories about clients or volunteers. Recently, we received a story that is worth sharing.
There is an 8-year-old girl in Rochester who asks her friends to bring donations for the food bank to her birthday party instead of gifts. She does this every year. This year she specifically asked for laundry soap and pet food and her friends responded with 183 pounds!
She is already looking forward to next year and thinking about what items she will suggest.
The local food bank noted that they thought this wonderful little girl would grow up to become a great philanthropist — at Coastal Harvest we think she already is.
You can help feed the hungry, too. If you live in Aberdeen or Hoquiam there is a box on your utility bill to add a donation to your payment. Other donations can be sent to P.O. Box 616, Hoquiam, WA 98550.
