Aberdeen takes advantage of River Ridge miscues in 4-1 win

An earlier start to the offense for Aberdeen was helped out by River Ridge’s miscues, but the Bobcats will take the advantages when they come on Wednesday.

A two-out throwing error was folowed by a two-run double by Ashton Williamson in the third inning and two more errors were capitalized upon later in the game en route to a 4-1 Evergreen 2A baseball win for the Bobcats over the Hawks at Ken Waite Field.

Williamson drove in three runs to lead the Aberdeen (9-3, 9-4) offense. Reilly Fairchild, Williamson and Carter Harris each had two hits, with Williamson slugging two doubles.

Fairchild was again efficient on the mound, throwing 87 pitches to round out his complete-game four-hitter. The senior struck out five.

“River Ridge gave us the game by their mistakes, but they came to play,” AHS head coach Shon Schreiber said. “We got timely hits with Williamson, who delivered the big hits with guys on. When Reilly got the ball up, they hit it, but we tell them to pitch to contact. You move the ball around, like Reilly did, and they can’t do much with it when they do hit the ball.”

In the junior varsity game, Aberdeen won, 6-5. Austin Silva picked up a walk-off RBI single to win it for Aberdeen.

Today, Aberdeen hits the road to take on Capital.
