Three top Grays Harbor College athletes were honored recently as top student-athletes for 2012-13. At left, GHC softball pitcher Jill Johnson received the Craig Wellington Award for Outstanding Female Athlete. Johnson’s NWAACC-leading record as pitcher earned her this honor. She pitched 30 straight games without relief and probably will transfer on to Central Washington University. GHC basketball player Jordan Hunt, center, was named recipient of the Neal A. Eddy Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement in Athletics. He led the NWAACC with the highest grade-point average. Jordan graduated with a perfect 4.0 and was one of four top scholars in the GHC Class of 2013. A Chehalis resident, he plans to attend City University as an education major. At right, the Dr. O. R. Austin Award for Outstanding Male Athlete is GHC golfer Patrick Nugent of Olympia, who was on the NWAACC first team for golf this year. He will complete his Associate degree at the College in the fall and is undecided about his next step.
