Little League tourneys begin this weekend

A pair of Little League tournaments begin this weekend in Elma and Centralia.

The 9-10 Tournament of Champions actually began last night at Centralia’s Fort Borst Park. The double-elimination tournament runs through June 28, with an if-necessary second championship game planned for June 29.

The 11-12 Tournament of Champions starts today at Elma’s Smith-Murray Park. That tourney runs through at least June 27, with a possible second championship game planned for June 28.

These tourneys are for players not competing in district tournaments. No state berths will be decided in these events.

The district 9-10 tournament begins June 29 at Montesano’s Nelson Field. Aberdeen will host the district 10-11 event starting July 6, while the district major league (11-12) tournament starts June 29 at Stan Hedwall Park in Chehalis. The district brackets in these tournaments will be listed in a future edition.
