Aberdeen’s Baltazar wins at Shaner Invite

TUMWATER — Aberdeen senior Poli Baltazar won the boys 3,200 meters at the Shaner Invitational track meet Friday at Tumwater Stadium.

Baltazar was clocked in a season-best time of 9:27.69.

Three other Bobcats recorded top-six finishes in the prestigious meet, in which each event is limited to 16 competitors.

Aberdeen’s Brock Struthers and Shayna Wilson wound up second in the boys and girls javelin, respectively.

Official marks and complete results were not posted at press time.

Aberdeen’s Lily Walsh placed fifth in the girls javelin and also established a personal best by some six feet in finishing in the top eight in the girls discus.

The top six in each event received either medals or ribbons. The top eight scored points.

“The kids who were eligible and qualified had a great meet,” Bobcat coach Sherrie Green. “We had a lot of season bests.”

Next up for the Bobcats is the Evergreen 2A Conference/subdistrict meet scheduled for Friday at Chehalis.
