CHEHALIS — Aberdeen packed a bit of first-place punch to start the postseason on Saturday, walking away with three individual event championships during the Evergreen 2A subdistrict meet at Chehalis High School.
Aberdeen’s Poli Baltazar won the 3,200m run by 30 seconds to claim his meet title, while Brock Struthers hit a personal-best throw of 175-0 to win the javelin.
The Bobcats’ Shayna Wilson and Lilly Walsh went 1-2 in the girls javelin, with Wilson winning at 131-10.
“We were thrilled with the first-place finishes and the amount of kids we’re taking to districts,” AHS head coach Sherrie Green said.
The top-five finishers in laned events and top-seven finishers in non-laned events move on to next Saturday’s District IV 2A meet at Washougal. The Bobcats will have four other competitors going.
In the boys meet, Joseph Bowley took fifth in the 800m to qualify. The 4x100m relay team of Connor Quinn, Filipo Cournoyer, Joel Dublanko and Conner Webber will wait to see if their fifth-place finish will qualify (compared to the Greater St. Helens League fourth-place finisher).
In the girls meet, Jade Caskey took fourth to qualify in the 400m, Catherine Harris finished fifth to make it in the discus and Brittani Boora was sixth in the 3200m.
