Aberdeen moves three, Hoquiam one into subdistrict swim meet

Four Harbor swimmers — three from Aberdeen and one from Hoquiam — earned district berths in the district 2A girls swim meet Wednesday at the YMCA of Grays Harbor.

Hoquiam’s Hannah Mellon-Jackson qualified in two events, while Aberdeen’s Mairead Ost, Lauren Dunn and Amber Rosche advanced to the district meet in one event each.

Mellon-Jackson won the 500-yard freestyle and finished third in the 100 breaststroke to advance. Ost won the 200 individual medley, while Dunn took second in the 100 backstroke and Rosche’ second in the 100 breaststroke.

Aberdeen coaches Jan Simons and April Heikkila cited Libby Carrico and Shana Conrad for their swims.

On Nov. 2, the district meet will start with preliminary heats at The Evergreen State College in Olympia.
