LACEY — A late loss for Aberdeen hurt a little bit more than usual on Saturday night.
In the final minutes of this non-league girls basketball contest with North Thurston, junior Alexxi Timmons injured her ankle and left the short-handed Bobcats in a 48-40 loss to the Rams.
Tied at 30-30 after three quarters, the Rams pulled away in the fourth quarter when Aberdeen (8-4) lost Mo Donovan to fouls and then Timmons to injury. The Bobcats already have Ericka Manwell out due to injury prior to the game.
“We’re patchworking right now; we’re going to have two starters out for a while,” AHS head coach Aaron Roiko said. “Both teams played hard, but weren’t hitting a lot of shots.”
Emily Fisher led the Bobcats with 12 points, 10 rebounds and five assists. Before she left the game, Timmons had 10 points and Kiana Dixon pulled down eight rebounds.
Coach Roiko cited Lily Walsh for her spark off the bench, scoring all of her eight points in the first half, and Fisher for her all-around game.
On Tuesday, Aberdeen hits the road again at Black Hills.
