Bobcat girls sweep past River Ridge

Mo Donovan and Grace Utto-Galarneau combined to toss a one-hitter as Aberdeen blanked River Ridge in the first game of a doubleheader, 8-0, in Evergreen 2A League play on Monday at the Bishop Athletic Complex.

Aberdeen also won the second game, 12-2, which ended after five innings due to the 10-run mercy rule.

Hannah Tometich hit a sacrifice fly to score Timmons. Donovan singled and Stephanie Boone drove them both in with a two-run double.

“The (first) game was well-pitched by Mo and Grace,” said Bobcat assistant coach George Donovan. “We also had a lot of hard-hit balls.”

The Bobcats opened the second game with a 4-run first inning. Timmons had a leadoff double, Donovan drove in a run with an RBI double and Boone had a two-run double. In the five-run third inning, Shannon Glenn and Louthan each hit doubles.

“We had two big innings with a lot of base hits (13) in this game,” said assistant coach Donovan. He praised freshman Brianna Ashlock for hitting the game-ending RBI single, the first of her varsity career.
