Bobcats win in 4 in volleyball at Chehalis


CHEHALIS — Aberdeen secured a district volleyball berth by toppling Chehalis in four sets, 25-22, 25-21, 19-25, 26-24, in Evergreen 2A Conference play on Thursday at Chehalis.

The Bobcats, winless last season, improved to 5-4 in league and 5-6 overall and clinched a place in next month’s district 2A tournament.

Alahna Weber led the Bobcats with 11 kills, 17 digs, 12 assists and four blocks. Heather Dublanko and Brittany Flohr added nine kills and seven kills, respectively. Flohr also contributed 13 digs. Kiana Dixon had six kills and four blocks.

“Chehalis is a young team with a lot of talent,” said Bobcat coach Wilma Weber. “We feel fortunate with the win and a district berth. Our defense played very well. We are looking forward to the highest seed going into districts.”

Chehalis won the junior varsity match, 25-20, 25-20. The Bearcats C squad also won, 25-17, 26-24.

On Thursday, Aberdeen travels to Centralia.
