Bulldogs hope to play homecoming at Rottle Field

Montesano High School officials are optimistic that the Bulldogs can play their homecoming football game at home.

In the wake of the fire that destroyed the Rottle Field grandstand on Sept. 16., the Bulldogs moved Friday’s scheduled home game with Forks to Aberdeen’s Stewart Field.

That had been scheduled as Monte’s homecoming contest.

Instead, school officials moved homecoming to Oct. 19, when the Bulldogs will host Rainier in their regular-season home finale.

The Bulldogs hope to play that game at Rottle Field using temporary bleachers, Monte athletic director Tim Trimble said this week.

While the fire also caused electrical damage at Rottle Field, Trimble said the scoreboard and public address system should be operational by that time.

School officials are still working on restoring stadium lighting, Trimble said. If that issue can’t be rectified, an afternoon game presumably would be an option.
