Choker women bow out of tourney

YAKIMA — Lower Columbia College capitalized on turnovers to top Grays Harbor College, 88-54, Saturday in the Yakima Valley Tipoff Tournament in Yakima.

With the loss, the Chokers (0-2) bowed out of the tournament.

Bobbi Britt was the leading scorer for the Chokers, with 16 points.

“We turned the ball over a little too much,” said Choker coach Christine Nelson. “We need to take care of the ball and execute better. The effort is there, we just need to concentrate on the ball.”

Nelson commended Erica Rydman for her fine defensive effort. She also praised Sheleena Giles for a tough inside performance and Brittt for her fine offensive play.

The Chokers will visit Olympic Community College on Nov. 28.
