EDMONDS — Using its press to force turnovers, the Grays Harbor College women pulled away from Edmonds Community College, 61-56, in non-league basketball play on Saturday at Edmonds.

Molly Carmody was the leading scorer for the Chokers (2-2), with 18 points. Bobbi Britt scored 14 points, grabbed six rebounds and swiped four steals. Sheleena Giles was the leading rebounder with nine while Bianca Russell pulled down six.

Sarah Garinger was the leading scorer for the Tritons with 15 points.

“We outrebounded them and they struggled with our press,” said Choker coach Christine Nelson. “We also got points off of turnovers. Both teams made runs, but when we were up at the end of the game, we took care of the ball. We are growing and playing hard as a team.”
