Chokers men drop opener

BELLINGHAM — Defending northern division champion Whatcom Community College’s offense was too much for Grays Harbor College as the Choker men fell, 102-56, Saturday in NWAACC Western Division play in Bellingham.

Whatcom’s Alex Duncan scored 25 points and the Orcas also dominated the boards.

Elma High School grad Nolan Wyatt led the Chokers scorers with 11 points. Arthur Erholm added nine points. Alex Richters was the leading rebounder for the Chokers with five.

The Chokers made the trip without starting point guard, Riley Alvord, due to injury.

“Offensively, we were slower than we wanted to be,” said Choker coach Jordan Altman. “They (the Orcas) hit 60 percent of their shots.”

The Choker men will travel to Olympic Community College next on Nov. 28.
