Elma High School graduate Katie Colard enjoyed a perfect shooting night from the field in helping the Western Washington University women’s basketball team close out its regular season with a 78-54 rout of Western Oregon on Saturday at Monmouth, Ore.
Colard hit all five of her field-goal attempts — all from 3-point range — in finishing with 16 points. The sophomore guard is averaging 7.9 points per game this season for the Vikings.
Ranked seventh in the USA Today/ESPN NCAA Division II poll, the Vikings finished the regular season with a 23-3 record. Having won the Great Northwest Athletic Conference, they’ll receive a first-round bye in the conference tournament this week at Saint Martin’s University in Lacey.
