SEMINOLE COUNTY, Ga. — Lake Quinault took the lead in the top of the seventh inning, but host Seminole County responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning to claim a 7-6 baseball victory on Monday.
For the Elks (2-2), they finished their Southern road trip with a 1-1 record and got a closely contested game against the Indians.
“This was the game we were hoping for with two very evenly matched teams,” Lake Quinault head coach Keith Samplawski said. “They’re a much bigger school. This was a game where you play up to your competition and we did that. We battled the whole game and it was a great game to get better and see things we normally don’t see.”
Dalton Lines turned a lead-off single in the top of the seventh into a go-ahead run at 6-5 on two stolen bases and Santos Venegas’ sacrifice fly. Lines had four singles in the contest, while Venegas drove in three runs (a pair of RBI singles in the first and fifth innings).
Seminole County responded with an RBI single following a one-out double down the left-field line. Two passed balls moved the winning run to third and it scored on a two-out sharp single down the first-base line.
On Saturday, Lake Quinault returns to action by hosting Adna at noon in a single game.
