ELMA — Call it a bit of home-course advantage, but you have to call it a season-opening win for the Elma boys golf team on Tuesday.
Led by medalist Jason Sayler, the Eagles’ top-three golfers shot the lowest rounds of the day to win the Grays Harbor Jamboree at Oaksridge Golf Course over Aberdeen, Hoquiam and Montesano.
Elma won with a 227 team score, with Sayler picking up medalist honors at 42. Zach Wroten (43) and Austin Neary (44) were right behind Sayler on the day.
Aberdeen finished second, led by dual 44s from Devin Daniels and Stuart Ball. Hoquiam edged Montesano for third at 253, led by Tahcoy Ibabao (48). Nolan Walker led the Bulldogs at 46. On Thursday, Elma and Montesano will face each other in a dual meet at Oaksridge.
Hoquiam will hit the road to take on Rochester, also on Thursday. Aberdeen will regroup and begin Evergreen 2A play against Tumwater on Sept. 12.
