Gulls soar to 16th straight win

TENINO — Three players scored in double figures as fifth-ranked Raymond cruised to its 16th consecutive victory by crushing Tenino, 68-13, in a non-league girls basketball game Monday at Tenino.

Abby Maneman scored 20 points to pace the Gulls, while Shylo Boyes tallied a season-high 11 and Aiysha Garcia added 10 points as Raymond shot 55 percent from the field.

“Abby worked hard tonight,” Raymond coach Jon Schray commented. “They put a box-and-one on us in the first half, which means whs had to work a little harder to get her shots. This defense also allowed Shylo to be free to work a little more.”

Raymond’s press forced numerous turnovers as the Gulls built a 19-4 lead after one period. Schray called off the press after that, but Raymond’s zone continued to stymie the Beavers.

The Gulls host Naselle on Thursday.
