OLYMPIA — Aberdeen won the first meeting between the two teams, but couldn’t match that result as Capital got a nationally ranked singles player back and cruised in this Evergreen 2A match on Monday.

Ty Gentry, who blanked Dillon Rowe, 6-0, 6-0, in the No. 1 singles match was missing in the first meeting. Aberdeen’s Cole Edwards also saw his 10-match streak end with a straight-set loss to Travis Miller, a freshman like Gentry.

“It was a different story when they didn’t have their nationally ranked player,” AHS head coach Andy Duffy said. “That’s why they’re the (league) leading team. They’re solid top-to-bottom.”

On Wednesday, Aberdeen (6-5) hosts its final league match of the season against River Ridge.

Ty Gentry (C) def. Dillon Rowe 6-0, 6-0. Travis Miller (C) def. Cole Edwards 6-3, 6-1. Vlad Suslikov (C) def. Dominic Salick 4-6, 6-3, 6-4. Mathias Burlingame-Doug Doenges (C) def.
