TENINO — Elliot Mendenhall and Tucker Ibabao led 10th-ranked Montesano to a pivotal Evergreen 1A League win over Tenino, 50-7, on Friday at Tenino.
Mendenhall led the Bulldog rushing attack with 15 carries for 79 yards, and also notched a 27-yard touchdown reception from Matthew Jensen in the second quarter. The Bulldogs (3-1, 5-2), rushed for 246 yards and notched 458 yards of total offense on the night.
Ibabao rushed for 73 yards on 12 carries. He started the first quarter with a 16-yard touchdown run and added a 34-yard scoring run in the third.
Ben Ohashi was the leading receiver for the Bulldogs with 130 yards, including a 32-yard TD reception in the fourth quarter.
Jensen ran for a 1-yard score in the second quarter and Shad Rogers added a 23-yard touchdown run in the fourth.
Cody Olsen intercepted a Beaver pass with 2:17 left in the game and ran the ball 35 yards for a touchdown.
Anthony Louthan kicked an 21-yard field goal in the second quarter and all of the PATs in the game.
Jake Massoth and Louthan were defensive standouts for the Bulldogs, including a blocked punt and an interception.
The Beavers (3-1, 5-2) scored their lone touchdown in the final frame.
“Our kids played really, really well,” said Bulldog head coach Terry Jensen. “This was an important big win for us.”
In addition to Olsen, Massoth and Louthan, Jensen cited defenders Robert Sprinkle and Jacob Sampair for fine defensive play.
The Bulldogs will return to Rottle Field on Friday to host Rainier.
