Monte teams sweep powerlifting titles


LACEY — Montesano swept team honors in the Northwest Christian Powerlifting Tournament on Saturday at Lacey.

The Bulldogs won the boys title with 47 points, seven ahead of runner-up White River. Monte’s girls totaled 59 points, 15 more than host Northwest Christian. North Beach was third with 32 points.

Six Grays Harbor girls captured individual titles. They included Montesano’s Chazlyn O’Bannon at 97 pounds (with a lift total of 460), Ashley Laney at 105 (490 total) and Rayna Ashlock at 114 (535 total), North Beach’s Crystal Lynch at 181 pounds (710 total) and Dakota Dycus at unlimited (715 total) and Elma’s Stefanie Cristelli at 148 pounds (685 total).

Montesano’s Marcus Cripe and Tanner Birdsall won the boys 123 and 148-pound titles with lift total of 580 and 970 pounds, respectively.

Next up is the inaugural North Beach Invitational on March 2.
