NASCAR driver Greg Biffle to appear at Grays Harbor Raceway

ELMA — Greg Biffle of Vancouver, Wash., one of the leading drivers in the NASCAR Sprint Cup series, is scheduled to appear at Grays Harbor Raceway next week in one of the final races in Speedweek Northwest.

An investor in the Elma raceway’s promotional company, Biffle is scheduled to appear at the Speedweek event scheduled for July 20. He is not slated to compete, but will be available for an autograph-signing session that evening.

A raffle prize drawing for a ride-a-long with Biffle, who will pilot a two-seat dirt late model car around the three-eighths of a mile oval, will also be offered.

The eight-day Speedweek Northwest will conclude July 20-21 at Grays Harbor Raceway. Biffle is not scheduled to attend the July 21 race.

Having captured the Samsung Mobile 500 at Texas Motor Speedway this season, Biffle currently ranks third in Sprint Cup season points. He is seeking to become the first driver to win season championships in the Sprint Cup, NASCAR Nationwide Series and Camping World Truck Series.

The 15th renewal of Northwest Speedweek begins Friday at Willamette Speedway in Lebanon, Ore.

After a two-day event at Willamette Speedway, the tour will have its only off day on Sunday. It then moves to Southern Oregon Speedway in White City on Monday.

That will be followed by one-day stops at Coos Bay, Cottage Grove and Banks, Ore. before the two-day tour finale at Grays Harbor Raceway. The Elma oval is the only Washington track on the Speedweek circuit. Last year’s program at Grays Harbor Raceway was rained out.

Standouts from the American Sprint Car Series Northwest Region and the ASCS national tour will compete in Speedweek. Drivers from both circuits are scheduled to join at Grays Harbor Raceway, Willamette Speedway and at Sunset Speedway in Banks. Speedweek Northwest is sponsored by Bully Dog Performance.

Kyle Larson of Elk Grove, Calif., is the reigning tour champion. Veteran driver Roger Crockett of Medford, Ore., is another perennial Speedweek series contender.

This Saturday, Grays Harbor Raceway will host the Dirt Car Super Late Models. Competition will also include modifieds, hobby stocks and hornets.

It will be Pepsi Sampling Night. Adult who bring a can of AMP Energy drink to the ticket window will receive $3 off an adult admission only.

The month’s schedule at the Elma track will conclude with the 13th annual Shipwreck Beads Modified Nationals on July 27-28.
