Ocosta girls beat Naselle in softball

WESTPORT — Lauren Nelson had two hits and drove in three runs as Ocosta thumped Naselle in Pacific League play on Monday at Naselle.

Nelson doubled in the fifth inning for the Wildcats (2-0).

She also contributed an RBI single in a five-run fourth inning. Mikayla Sunde walked and Jenny Benn drove her in with an RBI single. Mckenzy Powers contributed an RBI single and Shaylene Pase scored Benn on a sacrifice fly to end the scoring in that inning.

“We had fewer errors in this game (1), which helped a lot,” said Wildcat coach Kevin Goodrich. “Overall, it was a good team effort.”

Goodrich praised Benn’s pitching. He also commended Nelson for her offensive production.

Ocosta hosts Lake Quinault today.
