The Hoquiam-King’s state Class 1A football opener has been confirmed for 1:30 p.m. today at Olympic Stadium, HHS athletic director Brian Grun announced.
Olympic Stadium was approved as a site for the game following an inspection of the grass field by District IV administrator Rich Frazer on Friday morning.
While grass fields are permitted to host first-round state contests, they must be approved by the appropriate district. All other playoff games, from the quarterfinals to the championship game, are required to be played on artificial turf.
Two other playoff contests are scheduled for today at Aberdeen’s Stewart Field. Taholah and Quilcene square off in a Class 1B game at 1 p.m., while Raymond takes on Napavine in a 2B opener at 7 p.m.
State-mandated ticket prices are $8 for adults and $6 for students and senior citizens.
