Aberdeen youth hoop clinic planned

A youth skills basketball clinic is scheduled for Oct. 12 at Sam Benn Gym.

Conducted by Aberdeen High School boys basketball coach Leonard Barnes and members of his team, the clinic is open to fourth through-eighth-grade boys. Instruction for fourth through sixth-graders is scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to noon. Seventh and eighth-graders will meet from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Games will be played the last 30 minutes of each session.

Advance registration is requested. Registration will be accepted from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Sam Benn Gym or at the Aberdeen High School office during school hours. Those interested may email Barnes at lbarnes@asd5.org or by requesting a registration form. The registration fee is $10 per player.

Bulldog jayvees trounce Forks

Tanner Birdsall scored five touchdowns as Montesano trounced Forks, 42-20, in a junior varsity football game Monday at Forks.

Giunton aces at Highland

Rob Giunton scored a hole-in-one Wednesday at Highland Golf Course.

Giunton aced the 130-yard ninth hole. The club used for the shot was not reported. Witnesses included Harry Carson, Carl Eauanson and Ed Archie.
