Quinault alum scores for Pacific

Cameron Pumphrey, Pacific University wide receiver from Lake Quinault High School,caught a 54-yard touchdown pass from Warner Shaw in a 51-17 loss to Linfield on Saturday at McMinnville, Ore.

It was the first reception of the season for Pumphrey, a sophomore.

Sand qualifies for junior golf tourney

John Sand of Hoquiam has qualified for the Rocky Mountain Junior Golf Tournament of Champions next month.

Sand recently won the 13-14 division in a junior tour event in Arizona. Playing from the same tees as the competitors in the older age groups, his 156 total would have tied for fifth overall.

The Tournament of Champions is scheduled Dec. 27-28 at the McCormick Ranch course in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Castle Rock wins state v-ball title

Southwest Washington district champion Castle Rock won the state 1A volleyball championship Saturday by beating Lakeside of Nine Mile Falls, 25-27, 25-13, 25-23, 25-18, on Saturday night in Yakima.

Tumwater took second in the 2A tournament, losing to West Valley of Yakima in four sets.

Volleyball club to meet

The Grays Harbor Volleyball Club will meet from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Grays Harbor College gymnasisum.

The meeting is open to all fifth-through-12th grade girls seeking to play tournament club volleyball this winter. A clinic will be included in the meeting.
