Elma Little League registration opens

Three registration sessions for Elma Little League are scheduled this week.

Signups begin from 6 to 8 Wednesday at the McCleary School Library and continue at the same time Thursday at Elma’s 10th Street Park. The final session is planned from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the 10th Street Park.

The Little League program is open to boys and girls in the 4-12 age group (as of April 30).

Super Bowl sandwich fundraiser for AHS swimming

The Aberdeen High School boys swimming team will be conducting a sandwich fundraiser on Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 3 and is now taking orders.

All sandwich orders will be delivered before the game’s kickoff and money will be collected at the time of the order.

There are four sandwiches, all large, to choose from — Ultimate Turkey Club, The Traditional, Veggie Guacamole and Chicken Milano. The first three sandwiches, including chips and a soft drink, are $10.50 each. The Chicken Milano meal is $11.

Baseball showcase planned

A baseball showcase for high school juniors and seniors is planned for Feb. 10 at the Bishop Building adjacent to Pioneer Park in Aberdeen.

Organized by Aberdeen High baseball coaches Shon Schreiber, Jeremy Wintrip and Jesse Marlow, the event will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Players will participate in hitting, pitching, catching, fielding and running drills, with college coaches on hand to observe.

All participants are asked to wear baseball attire — with turf shoes, tennis shoes or molded cleats. No metal cleats are permitted. Each player must provide his own gear.

A $10 fee, payable to Aberdeen baseball, is required. The registration and fee may be mailed to Schreiber at 410 North G Street, Aberdeen, 98520. Further information may be obtained by contacting Schreiber at

Aberdeen LL signups continue

Aberdeen Little League registration is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon Feb. 2 at Aberdeen High School.

A final session is planned from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 11 at the same location.

The program is open to kindergarten through sixth-grade students who live in the Aberdeen, Hoquiam, Cosmopolis, Wishkah Valley and North Beach areas.

The fees are $45 for the T-Ball program and $65 for all other levels. All players are required to bring a birth certificate and those 9 years of age and older must supply three proof of residency items (post office boxes will not be accepted).

Poggies to meet Wednesday

The Grays Harbor Poggie Club will meet at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Hoquiam Elks Hall.
