Monte wrestlers place in league meet

Cole Ekerson of the Montesano Mad Dogs won his division at the Pierce County Youth Wrestling League championships last weekend at Auburn High School.

Ekerson, 34-0 for the season, won the 8-and-under 54-pound division with an overtime victory over Cole Miller of Sumner.

Four other Mad Dogs placed in the league tournament. They included Kayden Geelan, third in the 8-and-under 63-pound division; Andy Fry, third in the 9-and-under 63-pound class; Jack Jordan, fourth in the 9-and-up 91-pound class and Mateo Sanchez, fifth in the 8-and-under 78-pound division.

The Mad Dogs will next compete in state folkstyle tournament Feb. 17 in the Tacoma Dome. It will take place the day after the high school Mat Clasic, with 24 mats in operation.

Subdistrict swimming moved to YMCA of Grays Harbor

The subdistrict 2A boys swimming meet is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. today at the YMCA of Grays Harbor, Aberdeen athletic director Ken Ashlock announced.

The site was switched from The Evergreen State College in Olympia after press time Tuesday.

Super Bowl sandwich fundraiser for AHS swimming

The Aberdeen High School boys swimming team will be conducting a sandwich fundraiser on Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 3 and is now taking orders.

All sandwich orders will be delivered before the game’s kickoff and money will be collected at the time of the order.

There are four sandwiches, all large, to choose from — Ultimate Turkey Club, The Traditional, Veggie Guacamole and Chicken Milano.

The first three sandwiches, including chips and a soft drink, are $10.50 each. The Chicken Milano meal is $11.
