Willapa Harbor hoop teams ranked

Three Willapa Harbor basketball teams are ranked in the most recent Associated Press state poll.

Raymond is rated fourth among state 2B girls.

By virtue of Tuesday’s win over Willapa Valley, Raymond’s boys vaulted from 10th to fifth in the state 2B boys poll, while Valley is now ranked sixth.

Coastal Conservation Association to meet

The Twin Harbors chapter of the Coastal Conservation Association is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday in the meeting room of the Montesano Timberland Library.

Nello Picinich, the state director of the CCA, will be the guest speaker. Picinich is scheduled to explain the decision by the Washington and Oregon fish & wildlife commissions, to eliminate the use of gillnets on the lower mainsteam of the Columbia River.

All those concerned about the ramifications of this decision and the restoration of marine resources are urged to attend. A discussion of the upcoming fund-raising banquet is also planned.
