Baseball umpires to meet Sunday
The Grays Harbor Baseball Umpires Association will meet at 7:30 p.m. Sunday in the upstairs meeting room at Top Foods Grocery.
Returning umps, plus anyone else interested in umpiring high school baseball, are urged to attend.

Spring black bear hunt applications due
Applications are being accepted for a spring black bear hunting permit applicable to specific areas of Western and Eastern Washington, the Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife reported.
To be eligible for a permit, hunters must purchase and submit an application to the Fish & Wildlife Department by midnight on Feb. 28.
A drawing for 383 permits in Western Washington and 314 in Eastern Washington will be held in mid-March. Winners will receive their permits in the mail by March 31. Applicants may also check the results of the drawing at http://wdfw.wa.gov/hunting on the agency website.
To apply for a permit, hunters must purchase a special permit application and a hunting license that includes bear as a species option. Hunting licenses, bear transport tags and bear permit applications may be purchased online at https:/fishhunt.dfw.wa.gov, by phoning (866) 246-9453 or through any license vendor in the state.
Hunters selected for the Copalis-area hunt must obtain a recreational use permit and may contact Tracie Lamb at Rayonier (855-729-4868).
Any legal weapon used during the modern firearm, archery or muzzleloader seasons can be used for spring black bear hunts. Bait or hounds are not allowed for bear hunting.
