Bobcats honor Ball, Schlesser

Zack Ball and Deon Schlesser received the offensive and defensive Most Valuable Player awards, respectively, at the Aberdeen High School boys basketball banquet last week.

Bobcat coach Leonard Barnes thanked his coaching staff of Brandon Barnes, Nick Bamer, Brian Shay, Aaron Cleverly, Mark Buckman, plus team supporters. Other team awards:

Hoquiam’s Sand second in California golf

John Sand of Hoquiam tied for second place in his age group in the Future Collegians World Tour junior golf tournament last weekend at Carlsbad, Calif.

Competing in the 13-15 age group, Sand shot 75-75 for a 36-hole total of 150 at the La Costa Resort’s South Course. He finished one stroke behind Bryce Workman of Klamath Falls, Ore.

Quinault baseball fund-raiser set

A rib and oyster feed dinner, an annual fund-raiser for Lake Quinault High School’s baseball team, is scheduled for Saturday at the school.

The all-you-can-eat dinner runs from 4 to 7 p.m. Proceeds from the event will go to the Lake Quinault baseball program and will be used to help finance the team’s annual spring-break road trip, which this year will be in Florida and Georgia.

The meal costs $12 for adults and children 13 years of age and older and $8 for senior citizens (60 and older) and those in the 6-12 age group. Admission is free for boys and girls 5 years old and under, if accompanied by a paying adult.
