Bearcats open league season on road

The Grays Harbor Bearcats will face the Clark County Vipers in a Pacific Football League opener scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday at Kiggins Bowl in Vancouver.

The Bearcats beat the Renton Ravens in their lone exhibition game last weekend. They’ll return home April 20 to take on the Portland Raiders.

Track, basketball due today

The Grays Harbor All-County Track & Field Meet is scheduled for today at Hoquiam High School’s Sea Breeze Oval. Field events are scheduled for 11 a.m., with running events planned for approximately 12:30 p.m.

The Senior Showdown All-Star Basketball Games, matching high school seniors from the Twin Harbors and the South Sound area, is planned for tonight at Aberdeen’s Sam Benn Gym. The girls game is set for 6 p.m., with the men to follow at 8 p.m.

If weather permits, the final tune-up for the Grays Harbor Raceway season is scheduled for this afternoon at the Elma track. It will begin at 3 p.m. and continue until dusk, with admission free for spectators seated in the grandstand.

The Raceway season begins Aug. 20, with competition in the 360 sprint cars, modifieds, street stocks and midget cars.
