District 2A, 1A track on tap

The District IV Class 2A and 1A track meets are scheduled for Friday in Centralia and Kalama, respectively.

Aberdeen will compete in the 2A meet at Centralia’s Tiger Stadium. Field events are planned for 3:45 p.m., with running events at 4. The top three in each event qualify for state May 25-26 at Mount Tahoma High School in Tacoma.

Hoquiam, Montesano and Elma will all have healthy contingenst on hand for the district 1A meet Friday at Kalama. Field events begin at 4:30 p.m., with running events at 5:30. The top four in all events move on to state May 25-26 at Eastern Washington University in Cheney.

Cosmopolis man aces at Highland

Russell Avery of Cosmpolis scored his first hole-in-one this week at Highland Golf Course.

Avery used a pitching wedge to ace the 110-yard sixth hole. Brian Johnson witnessed the shot.

Baseball umpires to assemble

A general meeting of the Grays Harbor Baseball Umpires Association is scheduled for 7 p.m. Sunday in the upstairs portion of Top Foods Grocery.
