Grizzly jayvees

rout Rochester

Tahj Malone scored three touchdowns as Hoquiam crushed Rochester, 51-6, in a junior varsity football game Monday at Rochester.

Malone scored on runs of 8 and 10 yards and on an 18-yard pass from Brenner Carlstrom.

Carlstrom also connected with Austin Edwards and Vince Tran on TD passes of 30 and 40 yards, respectively, and ran in three 2-point conversions. Other Hoquiam touchdowns came on a runs Rashad Lorton and Brett Pelan. Lorton kicked a PAT.

Hoquiam coach Jeremy McMillan cited the offensive line of Kolby and Kyle Standstipher, Jesiah Bretz, Nick Lindseth, Cid Krasowski and Chase Watters.

Black Hills beats Bobcat jayvees

Black Hills downed Aberdeen, 20-6, in a junior varsity football game Monday at Stewart Field.

Tristan Jimenez scored Aberdeen’s lone touchdown on a 6-yard run. Bobcat coach Joe Fagerstedt noted the play of Justin Baldwin and Joel Dublanko on offense and Zac Dragoo and Matt O’Connor on defense.

Avery scores second ace at Highland

Russell Avery scored his second hole-in-one this year on Monday at Highland Golf Course.

Avery aced the 170-yard 15th hole, using a 3-hybrid club. He had holed out a tee shot on the sixth hole earlier this year. Witnesses Monday included Larry Avery and Larry Jones.

Bulldog jayvees fall

Woodland controlled play to down Montesano, 28-12, in a junior varsity football game Monday at Aberdeen’s Stewart Field.

Tanner Birdsall scored on a 65-yard run and Tristan Darst tallied on a 40-yard pass and run for Montesano.

Hoops refs to meet

The Grays Harbor Basketball Officials Association has scheduled its first meeting of the season for 6 p.m. Oct. 7 at the Montesano Moose Lodge. Prospective new officials are encouraged to attend.

Poggies to assemble

The monthly meeting of the Grays Harbor Poggie Club is scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Hoquiam Elks Hall.
